Cyril’s History:
- Cyril’s father abandoned his mother when she was still pregnant and his mother died shortly after we was born, which is how he ended up in the system.
- When he was a kid, he used to believe if he thought hard enough he might be able to remember his mother, but he gave up on that after accepting that there was no point to it.
- He has started the process of being adopted seven times. The first is when they were six which ended when Merrick bit the father in the hand; the next time was the Etoffes. The other five all left for various reasons, mostly due to Cyril’s sabotaging. He did most of his sabotaging away from his siblings and was careful to stop encouraging them try to get adopted. He never told them to stop trying, but he also didn’t do anything that would encourage them to continue. Including, never trying to get Merrick under control enough to get adopted, Lulwen to stop turning her nose up at human families, or Kali to get a more “acceptable” style.
- A teacher is what eventually inspired him to get the vallaslin. One of the teachers he respected up until that point made a comment that he might actually be able to do something with his life, so long as he didn’t mess it up by getting “that stuff” on his face. The next day he went in and talked to the Keeper about getting it. He was the first of his siblings to get it done, and dealt with the entire process of getting approved for it in part so they knew what to expect. Lulwen got hers right after and was actually a little annoyed that Cyril did something elfish before her.
- During high school, Cyril had a part time job in fast food and would bring home food for the family occasionally. He gave most of the money he made to their Keeper for clothes and food for the house.
- Cyril is an atheist but likes the culture and rituals of the Dalish because it makes him feel connected to something.
Cyril’s Likes and Interests:
- He when it comes to music he likes mostly alt rock and electronic genres. However, Bull really likes a large variety from popular pop songs to heavy metal and he’s helping Cyril to branch out in his tastes.
- Cyril likes independent films and subdued dramas or quirky comedies. He’s not a huge horror fan, unless they are subtler psychological horror films. He’d really like films like Juno, for example, or weird little films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind or Little Miss Sunshine. He’s not really a big blockbuster kind of guy. With horror he’d like something more like The Babadook than slasher films.
- He started going to clubs when he was 15, when he was taken to a few with the guy he was dating at the time. After that, he found that he really enjoyed dancing and losing himself to that. When he can, he still tries to go to clubs on a regular basis.
- He doesn’t really have a lot of hobbies because when he has free time he’s much more likely to go out than to stay in and do something with his hands.
- However, if someone introduced him to interpretative dance or took him to a dance show like that, he’d probably become instantly enthralled with it.
- He is learning to play video games because the Chargers enjoy them and he hangs out at their house a lot now. They have a lot of fighting game and party games (such as whatever this world’s version of SuperSmash Brothers is). He won his first few games against members of the team and actually turned out to be decent at them, which is something Bull finds hilarious.
- Cyril loves camping as much as any of his other siblings and also tended to go out on his own when he needed to calm down. He also likes hunting, though he’s careful about the way that he does it. He doesn’t kill more than he knows will be eaten and uses a bow when he does it. The only time he really, truly relaxes is out in the woods and his favorite memories are of camping trips he and his siblings took.
Cyril and School:
- He has the better overall grades of the group. Kali and Merrick were neither very good at school (despite both being very smart) and Lulwen had problems with human teachers. Cyril was liked by his teachers and talented in a variety of subjects.
- He graduated at the top of their class in high school, but turned down being valedictorian and the honor ended up going to a human girl.
- He is studying to become a public relations manager. He has plans to eventually join a huge corporation and work in their PR department but he knows that they tend to shy away from hiring elves.
Cyril and His Siblings:
- Cyril knows the medical history of all of his siblings in the same way a parent might. He knows what they are allergic to and what medications they’ve taken while growing up. He was also the one that was most likely to stay up with one of them if they were sick or the one who would help them deal with any injuries. Their Keeper was a good at it too, but Cyril sort of took over that roll after a while, and while at first she would try to get him to stop to focus on being a kid, he refused and eventually she gave in and let him, especially once she got some younger kids in her home and needed to focus on them.
- The siblings have an annual camping trip they take every summer. Camping is actually one of the things all four of them like an enjoy doing. Cyril does a lot of the practical planning to get them there (picking a day, making sure they have all of their supplies, packing the car, etc.), though Merrick ends up in charge of most of the set up once they are there.
Cyril and Relationships/Sex:
- When it comes to relationships, both romantic and sexual, Cyril is only interested in men. He’s never even considered dating or sleeping with women. The first person he had a crush on was Merrick, but that was mostly because he was dealing with that whole confusing growing up with the knowledge that Merrick wasn’t really related to him thing. After they kissed as kids though, he realized that he just really loved Merrick as a family member and left it at that.
- His first real boyfriend was when he was 12 but they didn’t do much more than hold hands and give each other innocent kisses. The other boy was an elf and he ended up moving away when his dad got a better job.
- He lost his virginity to a human boy when he was 14. The human was 17 and pretty much only wanted to sleep with him because he was an elf. After that, he only really used Cyril for sex and Cyril ended up cutting ties with him after he suggested doing some stuff he wasn’t comfortable with--specifically, he wanted Cyril to participate in group sex with his friends. It’s important to note that Cyril doesn’t consider this relationship abuse (even though it crosses that line) because he has fond enough memories of his experiences with this human and mostly cares about the fact that he learned a lot about how to have sex from him.

After the guy attempted to gaslight him over an argument they had, Cyril realized he was showing signs of being an abuser and ended the relationship. The guy got very possessive and started following Cyril around. In order to stop that, Cyril beat him up a bit and threatened to shoot him in the balls if he didn’t back off.
- After that, Cyril pretty much gave up on relationships. He spent his time after that being very casual about sex and going from guy to guy. He stopped just focusing on boys that were at his school and hooked up with random strangers at clubs. This does mean that when he was 17 he was sleeping with men much older than him, but most of those encounters he’s hidden from everyone. At the time, it was because he didn’t want to get in trouble, but now that he’s of legal age he doesn’t see the point in dragging up the past. Most of those people were human, and probably didn’t realize his age because humans tend to misjudge the age of elves.

- Cyril and Bull met in class and were assigned to do a project together. Cyril took control, earning the nickname “boss” from Bull. He started flirting with Bull hard right away and would even sometimes try and set them up to get on a date or spend time alone, but while they were working on the project Bull would always skillfully skirt around the issue, always pretending like he didn’t know what Cyril was doing. Once the project was finished, he admitted that they realized what Cyril wanted from him and they ended up sleeping together that night. The scene was pretty similar to the one in the game, of Bull preparing him and establishing strong consent between them. (I actually really want to write this part out eventually).
